About this country song?!
Question: I have been listening to Blake Shelton's new song "Home" and I can't figure out the meaning of it. I think the song is about a soldier/serviceman overseas in "paris" or "rome" and is waiting about his enlistment to be up so he can go home and see his wife. Does anyone else have any ideas or know for sure?

That isn't exactly the impression that I get. It sounds more to me that he had a dream to go to Europe, Paris and Rome and that his significant other chose not to follow that dream with him.
There is a line in the song that says...
And I know just why you could not come along with me
This was not your dream
But you always believed in me
I think he had a dream he chose to follow but it meant leaving the one he loved behind and after a year he realizes what he really wants in his life is back home.
He says that he wrote letters but could not send them and saved all the ones she wrote to him. He says he knows he is lucky to be in such a sunny place but even though he is surrounded by a thousand people that he is lonely and he wants to come home. He also says at the end that he will be home tonight.
I think, all in all, he made a life choice that what was most important to him was her and is returning to her.

The song was originally penned and sung by Michael Buble and I believe it was about being away from his fiance while he was touring. Not sure how Blake has interpreted it. I like Blake but I have to say I like Buble's version better.
