Not really good enough for serious gigging.

The Fender sounds like it comes from the cheapo end and will probably cause tuning problems eventually. I would go for something in the £200-400 range.

Whilst Marshall Amps are great, you need at least 200W o/p. and, for Bass, you really need a model which provides "Valve Effect". This is pretty essential to get that really good Bass Resonance!

I would also include an FX box, although, in normal use, it might not be necessary. (best to be prepared).

That lot will cost, bundled, in the region of £2,000 today!

I'd advise you do as my son did. He tapped up dad!............. and dad never regretted it!

I guess Eric Cartman was right, all black guys can play bass

Extra strings, a Tuner, some people like to play with a pick, stuff to keep your new bass nice and clean, ummmm, That's all i can think of.

that is fine, make sure that you get a digital tuner. its up to you if you want too play with a pick or not.

I'd also get a tuner (strobe or otherwise), cleaning solution, a fresh set of strings (and maybe an extra set in case you do pop one) and pay for a professional set-up. Amps are a matter of personal preference.

Yeah that pretty much covers the basics. You might want to get an electronic tuner if you're a beginner and maybe an effects pedal of some sort depending on what type of music you're planning on playing.

That looks like not a bad buy. Can you play already? You might find a beginner's book with CD or DVD handy.
