Answers: who in your opinion really paved the way for hip hop/rap?

i think it was the sugarhill gang personally, or grandmaster flash and the furious 5. two legendary groups that affected hip hop for the better.

?The Truth?
In my Opinion? Well, I don't really know.
LL Cool J was a big contribution.
Then following him were many rappers like Snoop, Dre, Eazy-E, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Biggie, and the list goes on.
From there, Eminem was by-far the biggest impact on rap. Whether you hated him or loved him he made the biggest impact that has still withstanded in hip-hop today. No questions asked.
But to tell you the truth, many rappers were essential for rap in the world.

rakim

louis armstrong and bb king guys like them go way back to jazz and eventually hip hop branched off..... but rundmc put it on the map

DJ Kool Herc and people like Fab 5 Freddy, DJ Hollywood, and Russell Simmons were promoting parties showcasing mc's and graff. artist back in the 70's long before there was a Rap Label. The Sugar Hill Gang was the first to expose Hip Hop street culture to a Mass audience, but cats were doing this in clubs and in the streets for a few years before them. In the song Rappers Delight the first words they spit are HIP HOP!!

The Godfathers - Herc, Bambaataa, Flash.
Then I guess in the 80's RUN DMC and the Def Jam label
In more recent times you'd have to say Pac & Biggie because they have been deceased for over 10 years and still the younger generation idolises them.
I guess this decade Jay Z, Eminem and the South have taken over.

tupac and eminem!!!!!!!
