Maynard James Keenan. What is the draw?!
Question: I'm not much of a hard rock fan except when it comes to Tool. I know all their songs by heart. What is it about Maynard's voice and lyrics? As if they were gospel. I feel as though he were speaking from a higher power, a place of wisdom and knowledge driven home by a raw anger and profound spirituality. There's an underlying philosophy in his work but under what philosophy "umbrella" is it? Does anyone else understand what I mean?

His voice has an aura to it. It's so...challenging. The words....meh. Their lyrics are good, but it's the performance of those words that give them power.
