P-Bass or J-Bass?!

Question: I have been playing bass for around 3 years now. I have a Peavey T-20, and I am looking to get a second bass. I play rock, alternative, and punk styles, and am in the process of starting a punk/alternative band.

I was wondering if I should get a Fender P-Bass, or if I should save up the extra couple hundred and spring for a J-bass.

go with the precision it looks cooler or get what i have, a thunderbird. i have the eppiphone gothic thunderbird and it is perfect for my band's punk sound. the bass ran me $300 and gibson makes the same bass for around $1000. but there is always the gretest upgrade to a musicman stingray - $1200.

I don't even like sunburst but my friend has the most beautiful bass i have ever seen. It's a standard sunburst jazz bass. It plays better than the p-bass, but for the styles you play the sound of either will do. I just like the look of the jazz bass better. It's realy a matter of what you want to play, don't settle for one because it's cheaper because you'll regret it. (by the way i wasn't trying to trash the pbass, they are both quality basses

For your music, P bass is the best.
