Question: what do DJs even do? Is all they do play records? because then anybody could do that. I know some of them make beats but then that makes you a producer, so what do DJs such as Jazzy Jeff, Jam Master Jay, Eric B., DJ Muggs etc even do?

A DJ, based on his/her taste, and the knowledge of his/her audience, selects the quality records and tests them in live mixes. They help the MC move the crowd.
haha.. yes.. well they release tracks, mixtapes, albums etc. some of them are part time producers.

Not all of them just play or make records. but alot do, like DJ Khaled. but some rap too, like DJ Quik [who now just goes by Quik], DJ Felli Fel [doesn't rap on all songs but some], DJ Unk, etc.
Go on tour with artists, mixtapes, contests etc.

They produce, make beats, play records, and sometimes rap. Not anyone can do that. You got to have training and skill.
