How do you make a band successful?!

Question: talent.. if they are s*** to start off with , then there is no hope.

word of mouth is good , and a myspace page helps for a start.

depends on how you mean "successful" , as simon cowell / louis walsh just tout rubbish singers.. who can't work studio gear and/or do cover versions.

If you are in it, resign!

Talent

you make them look like they are a HUGE deal wherever they play, then when they play, they might mess up. people think "ohhh all bands do that"

then people become fans and your successful

Just simply LISTEN.
LISTEN to yourself and to your band mates...and they are definitely correct with the word "Talent" because talent is a gift needed to be enhanced and shared to others...rest is exposure...and whole lot of Luck from God above!
Good luck!

Well Eamz, I'm glad to see that you think of other things than just this one girl that you have linked to about 8 of the questions you have asked over the last few hours. Ignore the answer about the looks! Look at Steve Tyler (Aerosmith) Jagger (Stones) or Fat Boy Slim (formerly House Martins) etc. If the music is good keep trying, see if you can get some local publican to let you play (free of course) on a Friday or Saturday. Send a tape (OK I mean CD) to some jock at the BBC. Unfortunately Peel is no longer with us - he is responsible for a lot of good bands getting somewhere. Depending on what music the band plays perhaps BBC Radio 2 - na don't laugh right! Or you could go really naff and try Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell ... Britains got talent (some people believe)

Talent, hard work, slogging up and down the motorways, generally moving to london being cold and pissed off playing in front of 20 people and the barman's missus, more slogging on the motorways, cds to anyone who might be anyone, more talent, sack yr mates if they're not good enough, practice till you bleed, spray paint yr name everywhere, never let a promotion opportunity pass you buy, get some good press, get a decent manager, get ripped off a few times, try really hard from now on, loads of gigs, if your lucky support someone whose 'made it', start supporting the bigger bands when they play your town, hopefully get a deal and get taken on tour by a bigger band, realise yr deals crap, sack yr manager, get another, try for a better deal, hope the press still likes you by the time you release yr lp, realise the press hates you, damn,sh it, bollox, I think that's how it goes ;)
