How can i make my singing voice sound more mature??!

Question: I need to figure out a way to make my voice sound older, more mature. Im 16 and when i sing i sound like im 11. when i talk i sound like im older then i am ( people say ) but i dont know. I love to sing with my school choir and when im at home when no ones around. But it's just that since my mom is a singer ( intertainer ), everyone wants to hear me sing, but i hate singing infront of people because i hate my voice, so i never sing. And when i dont sing everyone says " i bet you have a beautiful voice " and they ask me why i dont sing. I know i can sing but i just hate that i sound like little kid when i sing. We went to karaoke tonight ( saturday ) and i was just looking in the book to see if they had this song i like ( Alicia Keys, No One ) and my mom saw me looking, and she had sang already, and she put that song on a piece of paper to give to the karaoke people and they called my name to sing, i walked up and didnt sing, i just dont like singing ifront of people and i guess my.....

your question has two basic themes, so I'll try and give you a thought for both.
At 16, your voice is not yet mature. Especially if you've never trained it. you may have inherited your mother's genes, but it's still in potentia. Nobody reveals a grown-up voice without some work at it. ( Ask your mom, I'll bet she can tell you stories of how much she has had to train.) Even kids of famous athletes have to put in the time and training to make their mark, even though we assume they have inherited the talent. To get your voice to grow up, you have to use it= train it, sing lots!.
As far as the performance/comparison to your mom topic, yeah, that's can be a big bad one. Again, you can't just get up in front of a crowd and wow everyone if you haven't worked at it.
this is something that long-term readers and posters to this forum will agree with me on: most young people think it's really just as easy as snapping your fingers to have talent, be discovered and become famous overnight. In reality, it's anything but that. it takes lots of time and lots of work.
so if you recognize the fact that you don't have the experience down, you're actually one step ahead of all the other dreamers out there without a clue.
since you are already in your school chorus, and enjoy that, why don't you ask your director for some extra exercises? Most choral conductors and glad to see someone show more interest in singing, and probably will have some good things to help you out with. ( just remember, maturity is a thing that only comes with time- if you try and rush it, you will wind up hurting your voice instead of helping it.)
If you get along with your director that well, perhaps you can even ask about singing lessons, in private, either from him/her or someone else that they recommend. Ask some of your fellow choristers as well. Are there people there whose voices you like? Ask them if they take lessons, and f rom whom. chances are, you'll get some numbers to call.
In the meantime, just enjoy yourself as you are. You don't need to take the entertainment industry's standards as your own. find out what you sing best, and follow that up instead.
Best wishes

First off: singing in public could be more of your fear, than the sound of your own voice. singing karaoke in front of strangers, without any liquid courage is scary for most people!

Try to fill your diaphram by breathing in to your tummy instead of your lung. When you breathe in, then exhale, visualize the sound coming from the bottom of your tummy. It should get you a more grounded sound, instead of singing 'in your head'.

(hard to describe, but singing 'at' your throat, nose, head...produces a higher tembre than singing from your 'gut'.

practice breathing in, and instead of seeing your chest rise and fall, make your stomach rise and fall with your breaths. When you can do that, then make your stomach 'fall' on your exhale.

After you master that, make notes, and hold the notes by the breath coming out of your stomach...not your lungs.

Good luck.
??

Well, try having some classical training, that's what makes my voice sound more mature.
And drop your jaw when you sing, it'll make the sound rounder and therefore more mature (if you don't, it'll like smiling when you sing and you get a very nasal, cheesy, teeny bopper pop noise).

..KK

Youknow... You could find some way to enjoy the voice you have right now and not be in the rut of wanting to have something you don't have (for now).

I understand you want your voice to 'fit in' but if you could develop yourself so that your voice has a character and a personality of its own, no matter how old/young it sounds (are you with me here?) your voice would be something maybe everyone would want to hear.

You may find that kind of 'personality' or 'character' comes from singing from your heart (the depth of your soul) -- really enjoying what you are singing, being 'in the moment' really really a lot like the most 'into' something you've ever been.

If you don't like singing in front of people, why do you want to sing in front of people? This makes no sense (still with me here? ...get it?? ). If you want to sing in front of people, then do that.
