Question: I have seen Females make it big in every musical gener there is from classical to pop to rap to jazz to grunge but they haven't made any noticable headway into the metal area. Why is that?

They just don't sound "hard" enough, no matter how hard they try. They have good voices but not for metal. I don't care for women in metal.

I don't consider Janis, Grace or Joan heavy metal artist. They are more rock -n- roll and classic rock. We are talking about metal. Totally different genre of music....

Well, not trying to sound sexist, but brutality is more of a masculine thing.

Because all female rockers(or most) want to sing about how they are independant woman and how relationships go bad or how slutty they are.

There are some good woman vocalists though!

I don't know. Alot of times I personally prefer melodic female singing over some a male growling or whatever it may be. I don't about you but If I had a metal band at some point I would have a female singer.

ahahahhaha tell Arch Enemy that

Because... guys and girls voices sound different.

dont you know who kitty is>? they are some you just aint herd of them yet or something

How bout Joan Jett. She really rocks.

Typically most women just can't get the low gutterals and screaches ect. that men can. Don't get me wrong, there are a few chick singers out there that kick tail like Arch Enemy, but others like Kittie who just don't cut it. I really wouldn't try to compare Glen Benton's vocals to ANY chick out there.

Sexism. That, and most girls can't make the louder vocals that sound good, they sound whiny and all around annoying.

Their Some Good Female Fronted Bands

Arch Enemy
Light This City
Nightwish
Whithin Temptation
Fairy Land
Epic
Visions Of Atlantas
Bleeding Through

Well I guess Joan Jett wasn't badass enough for you? How about Janis Joplin and Grace Slick? I know they were more rock'n'roll but they still were groovy. And what about Amanda Overmyer? She has that spirit. She is amazing.

check out

Kittie.
