He's a well-established musician. I really couldn't stand him for years (his voice irritated me), but I've grown to really love his music. He's a pianist and singer and is the son of Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle; his sister is musician Martha Wainwright.
Rufus Wainwright is Canadian-American. He was born in 1973 in Rhinebeck, NY. He is a singer/songwriter. He is friends with the great Elton John, who helped him through his meth addiction. He plays piano and guitar. He was also in "The Aviator", "Brokeback Mountain", "Moulin Rouge!", "Shrek", and "Meet the Robinsons". He is gay (guess nobody's perfect!) Hope this helps
