I love Green Day's old music, prior to American Idiot.
American Idiot was just a little too, political, I guess. I used to listen to Green Day for humor, along with good musical talent. While they kept the musical talent virtually the same, they lost their humor, their "I don't give an eff" type of personality, and thats why I don't like American Idiot.
Well, they used to be very good up until now. They've gone all emo style of music, like Linkin Park.
I think their old songs are good, but as I said, like Linkin Park they've gone all emo styled.
love them!!! even though sometimes i can't undertand them, i love the music, i love how its fast paced, i just like that type of music
Ok well I'm not at all fond of their last few albums. I really think they just tried too hard to be political and it ruined them. Billy Joe started wearing eyeliner and that was it. I loved everything up to Nimrod. So I like Greenday basically 1990-1997 and thats it.
they're ok. some songs better than others
I don't have any entire albums by them, just a few random songs. And they're okay. There are certainly worse bands out there but there are also better bands.
Every thing Nimrod and prior. Everything else was a HUGE disappointment! They went against their prior punk status to this big political band, not that thats a bad thing, it just didn't work for them in my opinion.
Dookie/Insomniac = gems of the 90s
American Idiot = picked up ignorant bandwagoners...both fans and haters.
i love all of their old stuff, they're very much their own original little punk group. and i'm a big fan, so when their most recent album came out, i was really, really excited. i got it, and i was rather disappointed. it didn't even sound like greenday anymore, but more like some emo british group. i was really disappointed. but, i'm still a loyal fan, nothing beats 'when i come around' 'american idiot' 'she's a rebel' or 'blood, sex, and booze'
I really like Green Day. I liked American Idiot. True its very poppy ( not emo- LOL! That's silly ) Their music remind me of good times. Its as simple as that.

I thought they were alright until "American Idiot" came along. Ever since then, it feels like i can't switch the radio on without having a song from that album forced into my ears.
I don't think they are sellouts ,I hold them responsible for all these horrible "pop-punk" bands that infest the airwaves these days. They were never anything special in my opinion. Their lyrics are uninteresting and since that American Idiot mess they got preachy and self-important . There is nothing worse than a celebrity who thinks their political views are worth listening to since they're all liberal fascists anyways.

Everytime I think of Green Day, I think of little 12 year old kids who just found out what Emo and Goth is..
In short, this is what I'm trying to say...
"Caleb, why are you wearing black clothes, chains, and eyeliner, all of a sudden?" Said Tom.
"I'm Goth, leave me the f*ck alone! These black clothes represent my anger for this god-forsaken world... These chains represent myself trapped inside my own mind, and this eyeliner represents the narrowmindness of the people around me! " Said Caleb angrily.
Now, Caleb never acted like this before.... He was always a very happy person. They are both 12 years old.
In an attempt to get his friend to talk about other stuff, Tom asked him what his favorite band was.
"What's.... Err.... What's your favorite band, Caleb?" Said Tom, alittle uneasy.
"Green Day, because they are Goth! They UNDERSTAND me, they know what I'm GOING THROUGH. You NEVER understand ME, Tom! I f*cking hate you! You are SUCH an American Idiot!" Caleb screamed.
Tom was baffled.
"But.... Caleb, you are American too! I'm NOT an idiot! I'm not your friend anymore!" Tom was beginning to feel sad about the loss of his best friend....

By this time, Caleb had requested everyone, including his parents, to call him Demon Acheron Mirage Nightshade

Tom was beginning to have problems about what his real identity is also....
Tom was beginning to wear skinny jeans, his bangs over to one side of his face, emo band shirts, black nail polish, and he took up cutting himself. He too began to request people, even his parents, to call him Labyrinth Obsidian Shadow Thorne. Or for short, LOST.

I warned 'ya it would be Emo. I made that off the top of my head. I actually think that was fun, I'm going to write a-for-fun story based off of this in my journal now.
well, i only became a fan after American Idiot, so i guess i can be called an "ignorant bandwagoner" or a "little 12 year old kid who just found out what Emo and Goth is..." (actually, i'm 13, lol). While American Idiot was the first album by them i listened to and Holiday the first song, i'm not a poseur who only likes American Idiot. I've listened to their old stuff (especially Dookie) and some of my favorite songs are from the '90's. I think that their old stuff is amazing and has actual meaning, but American Idiot has some good songs as well. If you actually look at the songs and lyrics, the entire album tells a story. So, basically, i like their old stuff more than their new stuff and im waiting for their new CD- no matter what it sounds like, i can always go back to my older stuff. :)
I try to like them.. I can't. DJ's play their songs over and over again on the radio.. it just gets so annoying after a while! AAAAAHHHH :P
they are good and have been a band for like 20 years and their last album american idiot was the best from them
