Can anyone suggest who this pianist might be?!
Question: Quite a long time ago, I think in the mid 1980s or so, there was a pianist who, as far as I can remember, was something of a prodigy, maybe in his early teens, and had made some recordings. I haven't heard his name since, and I suddenly thought of him today for the first time since that period. That's all I can remember about him but I would recognize his name if I saw it. I think he might have been Russian but I'm not at all certain about that. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Van Cliburn is American! And had a very successful career anyway.
Are you thinking of Dmitri Sgouros? There are so many young pianists like him who develop too soon and burn out.
Maybe Richard Clayderman ?? I loved his music. He is German I believe... Let me know if I was right
I believe you are referring to Van Cliburn. I may be wrong though.
