Never too late to learn. I didn't start till I was 18 and I'm 36 now!! Never too early too learn how difficult getting into music can be. I'm not trying to discourage you, but just to give you an idea there are millions of guitar players throughout the States and Canada. Very few will ever be Rock stars, or even studio musicians.

I would first set your goals a little lower to start off. "You can't start climbing a mountain from half way up." Set your goals one at a time, and as you get closer to reaching that 1st goal set yourself another.

I would suggest as your first goal to learn the basics. Then maybe your next goal could be learning some basic music theory, and start working on scales. Once you get a bit better after about 1yr or so, or when you feel comfortable on guitar, start finding other musicians to practice with. Eventually, maybe attend school for music. That will give you the credentials to work in the music industry, maybe as a studio musician.

The main thing with guitar is you want to practice at least 15min a day. Set aside a certain time everyday to practice, even if it's just running through scales while watching TV.

If you decide to get a guitar post other questions on here, and people can help you find some good free learning material.

Good Luck to you!!!

well take whereever your dreams take you. its never too late to learn new things

You go for it girl ! I started a little older than you and made a good living playing rock and roll guitar. I'm going back to it now in my later years only now I'm leaning more towards jazz. I'm still in love with music and especially my guitars.

I didn't start till I was 16 and I have been playing ever since (I'm 32 now) So, go for it.

It's never to late to learn. I started playing the bass guitar when i was 16 and have played professionally for years now. I say that you should definately try it. good luck.

heck NO. it's definetely NOT too late. I started when i was 16, and now i'm 19 and i can play the heck out of a guitar AND a bass, and i learned them both in a few months. All you need is commitment. =)

good luck!

plus, it helps if you have friends that can teach you. But if if you don't they have wonderful DVDs. It takes aabout a year to learn, and the rest is adapting your own technique. Because after you learn the basics, the rest depends on you flavor. There's no wrong way.

I would say go for it! Its definitely not too late. I know some very talented guitarists who have been playing for only a short time. I play guitar and I'm a girl, and I have been playing for about 3 1/2 years now, so that was when I was around 13 or so, and I'm 16 right now. But if you really want to be a professional guitarist in a band, you will have to practice like crazy. It's very hard to make it anywhere in the music industry as a band.

Oh yeah, and I would recommend finding a guitar teacher, it will help to start you out. I started by taking lessons, and I still currently am. A teacher can help you learn things you might not be able to teach yourself or techniques and such that you might have known about if you teach yourself.

Good luck!
