So deep is the night - chopin?!

Question: Everytime I look up So Deep is the Night, it says that it's Chopin's Etude Op10, no.3 but when I look at the sheet music, it doesn't sound like the song..Did Chopin really write So Deep is the Night, or is that a song based off of the Etude?

Op 10 #3 is a Chopin Etude...

The pedagogical purpose of this piece is to develop finger legato in the R.H. melody and to develop the use of double notes in the middle section. Chopin asks the performer to work on a cantabile and dolce R.H. melody with a well balanced L.H. foundation.

The melody you speak of is the first 8 or so measure of the piece. Gotta love how some ripped off Chopin's work

No doubt a popular song based on the Chopin work. Pop music has been pulling from classical music for melodies and ideas for ages. Free music with no effort, inspiration or talent needed!!

Musician, composer, teacher.
