Umm What kinda rock ,usic does he like? If I were to suggest a good band I would say Paramore's Album Riot! Or All we know is falling.
Both awesome albums by Paramore... They are kinda grunge rock with some character.

It really depends. Does he like black metal? Death metal? Hair metal? Classic Rock? Ska? Progressive? Punk? "Emo"? Screamo? Grindcore? There are so many genres and "rock" is too general of a term.
It depends what kind of rock he likes. Its a huge range.
If he likes CLASSIC rock then go for Led Zeppelin, The Who, AC/DC, Wolfmother, Pink Floyd, stuff like that.
If he likes popular rock music...then just go into any random cd store and buy the first thing you see.

All's Well That Ends Well by Chiodos --- is the most amazing cd made. Its a must have for anyone who likes alternative screamo stuff.

Depends what kind of rock he likes but for classic Rock Music I would say try Cd's by various artists my choice would be While my Guitar Gently Weeps includes artists such as Eric Clapton , Dire Straits, Free, Santana,Fleetwood Mac and many more. Anothers good compilation CD"s is the Top Gear and theres a few of those good rock too.
