Question: For me it's Peter Hook.
Best Drummer, the drummer from CAN (can't remember his name).
Answers: For me it's Peter Hook.
Best Drummer, the drummer from CAN (can't remember his name).
Jazz - Jaco Pastorious
Metal - Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath
Modern Rock/Alternative - Les Claypool of Primus ties Flea of RHCP
Classic Rock - John Entwhistle of The Who ties John Paul Jones of Zeppelin
Prog Rock - Chris Squire of Yes ties Geddy Lee of Rush
Jam Bands/Folk - Victor Wooten of Flecktones ties Phil Lesh of Grateful Dead
Funk - Larry Graham of Sly and the Family Stone
Ska - Roger Manganelli of Less than Jake
New Wave or Madchester - I'd agree with Peter Hook, maybe Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads
My personal favorite: John Entwhistle with his amazing sense of bass melody. His riffs always add the perfect spice to WHo songs, and I love how he never changed his expression...ever, haha.

Chris Squire of YES is far superior.
John Entwistle of The Who was great...
Best rythym section: Bass - John Paul Jones, Drums - John Bonham
Les Claypool. Have you ever seen the man play? It looks like he's barely touching the strings, but he is acually using his hand/fingers as a bow. each figer goes back and forth to be more similar to a bow than using your fingers.
Second place goes to Fat Mike because nofx is the bomb.
he is bomb at them little bass licks that sound so good, while singing. check out the decline by nofx.
punk is all about bass. ever heard the bass solo in maxwell murders by rancid? its awesome.
the bass player from bela fleck and the flecktones is seriously almost as crazy as les claypool(although bela fleck is a boring band to listen to much)
Lez Claypool, of Primus. Go to youtube and listen to Big Brown Beaver.
Nikki Sixx, (Motley Crue) of course.
Bootsy Collins since 1968
Gene Simmons
John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin or Leon Wilkeson of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Billy Shenan - (Mr. Big, David Lee Roth) - Bass
Drums, Neil Pert, Tommy Lee, Scott Rockenfield, Carter Boford (spelling Boford from DMB)
The dude from Rush is good.
For rock music of today, I'll say Les Claypool and, yes, he's that "slapping machine".
Prog-rock, Chris Squire and Geddy Lee
Prog-metal, John Myung
Jazz - Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke (to name a VERY few)
James Jamerson- Motown
Mike Watt
JPJ
Billy Sheehan
Take one look at his solos....listen to his great backing.....The guy is amazing!!! Hes played with many of the greats in music as well.....

Les Claypool - No question about it.
Mighal62: Had the question been; Who is the greatest Trumpet player of all time. The answer would have to be Flea!! ; )
I personally love Fieldy from Korn, I'm not saying he's the best of all time, but he's my favorite.
I also like Les Claypool, Nikki Sixx, and Jason Newsted
If ANYONE says Flea...I'm gonna slap you.
Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) is my favourite bass player. There may be more skilled players out there in the world of funk and jazz, but Geezer was so revolutionary with his bass playing, he's my favourite. He was one of the first bands to play the bass in a completely different way to the guitar's part. He even created Black Sabbath's dark image after reading a book about the occult. Without Geezer Butler, there truly would be no metal full stop!
Mikey way, the Cutest Bassist of all times. and the Drummer for Slipknot is AMAZING
Roger Waters.
duh.
Tom Petersson - Cheap Trick - plays a 12 string bass, he's fascinating to watch live.
Dave Grohl is a maniac drummer.
I have several favourite bassists and drummers, as they each have their own style. In no particular order :~
Bassists :~
John McVie {Fleetwood Mac}
John Entwhistle {The Who}
John Illsley {Dire Straits}
Sting {The Police and solo}
John Paul Jones {Led Zeppelin}
Roger Waters {Pink Floyd}
Drummers :~
Mick Fleetwood {Fleetwood Mac}
John Bonham {Led Zeppelin}
Keith Moon {The Who}
Mitch Mitchell {The Jimi Hendrix Experience}
Of all time... that's pretty tough. I've always liked Paul McCartney, Flea, and Kim Deal. I also agree with Les Claypool.
Best bass player today, Carlos D
Bass: Billy Sheehan (Steve Vai band) Drummer: Dave Stanbough (Dan E. Peck band)
Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath)
John Entwistle (The Who)
and for a drummer it would be
Neil Peart (Rush
John Bonham* (Led Zeppelin) okay thats my picks have a great day
Bass- Flea, Drums- Neil Peart/ John Bonham, Bonham was better with Bass pedal, Peart had better fills
john paul jones
