What is your take on Gospel Rap?!
Question: Do you think the word of God can be presented properly, and accurately in a rap song. Or do you think like most rappers get a taste of fame but can't make it in the secular world so they decide to go the Gospel rap route? Would you listen and buy Gospel rap, and if so which Gospel rap artist stands out? (not Kirk Franklin)

Listen man, I'm from Compton, and i've seen gangbangers being touched through this style of musik... i lived the street life and i know that gangsta rap had a big influence on my life, I'm not saying that its's easy-e's or tupacs fault for spending so many years in the penn, but something about hip hop that influences, whether it's negative or positive,..
I'm a christian now, God changed my ways and i seek to live right, I still listen to hip hop but now I listen to what encourages me to serve God faithfully!! I agree that there are some christian artists who try too hard to put up a show, but there are those that are sincere about their ministry and care only about delivering the word of God the way todays youth can understand and apply...
so yeah! Gospel hip hop "is" another tool God uses to get peoples attention? I've seen it... who is anyone to say that this is not acceptable???
I think maybe in a few years it will take off, but for the most part of it gospel rap is lyrically garbage, so I wouldn't buy it myself, but the message is great they just need better artist to deliver it.
Hey I kinda feel like DMX is a gospel rapper and he's pretty good, what do you think?
Gospel rap is fake to me....as is the entire christian religion.....personally I cant stand an entire album of men praising God....Id rather listen to something that artistically makes a tangible difference in my everyday life...
I like kirk franklin. But Lecrae is cool, if you wanna go that route. Dunno many , is there like Anthony Evans? or the cross movement is cool.
I'm a Christian but I'm not a big fan of rap that tries to preach. It's too forced.
But on the other hand there are plenty of hip hop artists who are Christians but don't try to make a gimmick of the culture. They grew up on hip hop and understand it. You can listen to their music and appreciate it based on artistic merit but they also don't hide their faith. Those would be artists like:
Lifesavas
Lightheaded
LMNO
Mars ILL
Pigeon John
Strange Fruit Project
Ugly Duckling

I dunno anymore. I'm on the fence based on my studies lately regarding how a Christian should live. You know I like those guys from Reach Records. They have good lyrics that preach the Word, however taking something originally meant for the world and using it for God...I'm not sure on that anymore.
I mean their heart is in the right place but Jeremiah 17:9 says the "Heart is deceitful among all things, desperately wicked and who could know it." I'm not tearing these guys down. I'm not saying no good comes out of Gospel Rap, because look at what SoSo bLest said. On the flip, God uses his enemies to turn people to him. Just because he uses his enemy (i.e. Satan in Job) doesn't mean his enemy is blessed. Even now, Satan is doing the will of God, but he is going to end up in the Lake of fire. Some people may not understand that, but go read the book of Job and it will give you a clear understanding of how Satan was used to show us that God is in control. That's his will, for us to understand he is in Control no matter what happens, we may not understand, but he is.
Ok, I'll stop ranting. I just dunno on this anymore right now. With further study God will lead me to the proper conclusion.
