My band is looking to get big. What can i do?!

Question: We have about 54 dedicated fans, we have about 6 songs. We have a drummer, a singer/guitarist, and another guitarist. What can we do to get ourselves better known? We are a hard rock band.

Thanks all, message if you want more info.

be lucky.

Okay, look, I've been in a band 7 years. This is how it is. Play every show you can. Get on myspace of course. Go record a demo. Your first demo will suck because you'll try to go the cheap route. Just cuz it's a studio doesn't mean the producer is worth a crap. Once you have a good demo, you'll have to have an agent or a manager to send it to the music to labels. Most major labels won't listen to "unsolicited" material from bands. (this means you can't just send your stuff to them, you have to pay someone for that).

If that doesn't work you can always try recording your own album. You can sell it on Myspace or Itunes or plenty of other places.

The problem with all of this is that it takes money. Lots and lots of money. So instead of just playing your original set, you may have to invest in a p/a and begin playing 4 hour shows saturated with cover songs so you can make the 3 or 400 dollars a bar is willing to pay instead of splitting it with other bands.....the only song we ever recorded that is done "right" cost 750 bucks for just the one song.

And advertise. Good luck dude.

you could probably play at some local events, get recognized locally, advertise, possibly get picked up, start small then work your way up i would say

Local Gigs,

Make A Myspace Page?

Maybe you should find a way to get on Myspace or some other sort of media listener online. That's where the majority of people find new music. A lot of bands have made it big on Myspace or go to www.purevolume.com and create a band profile. Good luck!

myspace book as manyyy shows as you can get and get a GOOD demo recorded (as in not in your basement on your computer, in a REAL studio) and start sending it out to record companies.
talk to people in bands (myspaceee)

Play a lot of shows. The crowd can never be too small. That's how all the big ones start.Write some more material.Maybe hold a tryout for a bassist.Make a myspace page and a Purevolume page.Play local places and try to establish a bigger fanbase. It's hard but if you've got the talent and the drive you can do it.

Just get shows and get well known locally. You basically just have to get lucky to get big though. YOU NEED A BASSIST!!!!!!!! Don't try to be the Beatles, you need to have a bassist. You also need to get a good demo from a real studio, and you need more than 6 songs. try to get at least 10 or 12

You need to play gigs. Original music... make sure you kick ***,,, make sure you put on a great show,, and looking cool but being yourselves are important for many reasons. and make sure you get along.

Be Patient,,, You then need to make an album,,, on if's ands or buts. Without a full length album of original music that seriously kicks ***,,, no one and I stress no one will take you seriously in the industry.

At this point,, push the album onto people,,, internet radio,, get yourself some management,,,

I suggest reading some books on this subject as it is a very complex issue. But whoever is handling the "business" side of things,, needs to be very business savy and business minded,,, as the folks controlling the industry are in fact,,,,
business people. You need to speak their lingo along with presenting them with a great art that is businessly packaged.

In the words of Bon Scott,,, It's a Long Way To the Top if you wanna Rock n Roll .......

54 fans and 6 songs,,, you have a LONG way to go.
for now,,, just keep wood-shedding and play LIVE infront of LIVE audiences. No amount of practice could ever substitute playing live even if you're not quite polished yet...

Cheers and good luck.....

you'll need about 100 songs bro

Lolz.

yah you need a bassist

Commitment. Commitment. Commitment.
