Rap is the commercial music. Rap artist are in just for the money. Rap is Money, Sex, Cars, and Clothes. Rap artist are artist like Soulja Boy or Shorty Lo, and other people like that.
Hip Hop is way of life. Its the culture, its fashion, its music, and its a movement. Hip Hop artist care about their music and have a message. Theyre not just in the game for the money. Hip Hop speaks on people's situations. Artist like Tupac, Nas, and Lupe Fiasco are Hip Hop artist and seek to save Music.

There is no difference between hip hop music and rap music. Rap is the music of the culture.

hip hop is more beat oriented and it encompasses the whole lifestyle

lmao omg i can't believe you people bothered to answer this question, with the exception of the first dude. Hip hop is, like they said, the culture. It encompasses the following- rapping over beats, DJing and the turntable arts, grafitti and b-boying/break dancing. Anyone who tells you different doesn't know their history and shouldn't consider themselves fans of the genre.
Rap is just Rapping. For an example lets take Flo Rida's "LOW" single into rap without T-Pain's Apple Bottom Jeans & blah blah. That would be consider rap just like Chamillionaire's singles. Hip Hop is rap mixed with R&B!

Yes there is! Rap- Mostly rhymes and you think brooklyn when you hear it! ( well at least I do ), Hip-hop- fast best and mostly close I think of Miami!!
