How to convcie my mom to let me try an instrument (Electric or Bass)?!

Question: I want to learn how to play Electric or Bass, but I can't even play Acoustic, I'm young and can't drive, so I can't get to lessons on my own around school time. My mom wouldn't pay for lessons and I know I can get them free online, so there's no problem with that, now how do I go about learning without buying an Electric or Bass that will cost me hell and all below it. I realy want to learn because my friend and I have made up songs and she plays Drums, so I wanna learn Bass or Electric. So these are what you need to know.

1] I wanna learn to play Electric. Bass if Electric doesn't work out.
2] CHEAP. Or not EXPENSIVEEE.
3] How to convince my mom...?
4] Can work around a Middle Schooler's schedule.

If there's anything else I might need to know, tell me PLEASE.

Just tell your mom you want to learn how to play an instrument, I don't know what kind of mother wouldn't support her child having some kind of a musical education...

Keep in mind that if you want to learn electric guitar, you're going to need a guitar, a tuner, a chord, and an amplifier (if you want the guitar to be more than barely audible). If you don't want to get all of that, think about getting an acoustic.

Guitars range from about $100 to 1,000's. You can, of course, get them cheaper from certain places. Get on ebay, go to a pawn shop, or go to a music shop and ask to see what kind of used guitars they have. You can buy little pocket amps for 20 bucks at guitar center.

Don't worry about taking lessons if you can't afford it or whatever, a lot of people teach themselves. Just remember that this is a much slower and much more difficult way of learning. On line lessons are great I guess, but are harder to follow and are not even close to as productive as lessons in person.
