Isn't it funny when people ask for suggestions of "indie bands"...!

Ya, truly "Indie" has LOST it's meaning. I mean, long ago it meant unsigned or underground "independent" bands, not signed or affiliated with HUGE mega record companies...
Now it means something totally different, it is used as a describing word for a specific type of sound that a certain genre of music has.
Its sad, I think Indie has become synonymous with what "folk" or "unplugged" used to mean.... it's not limited to those 2, but when ALOT of people say "oh ya, that band is such an indie band" they literally mean that the band sounds very earthy, folky, etc. It is A MISNOMER.
Fact is, MOST people who are into Independent bands know the difference, but these teeny bopper, MTV- TRL watching kids today don't know the difference.
Oh, and don't even get me started on punk! TO me punk= Sex Pistols, The Clash, Ramones, which gave rise to bands like Green Day and Rancid of the late 80s and 90s.. which led to the DOWNFALL of punk, or as I like to call it " NEO-POP PUNK TRASH" Cooked up by record execs.... Fall out boy, New found glory, Reliant K, and that trashy ilk.
