Why do I sing in a different voice?!

Question: My singing voice is very different from my speaking voice, and though the same applies for my friend, it seems odd. My regular voice seems to be coming from the front of my throat, and I can't go very low or high. My singing voice comes from further into my throat, makes my vocal chords vibrate to the point where I can feel them moving without putting my hand to my throat, and gives me a much wider range. I can sing a fairly large range of notes, I suppose (I have never had singing lessons, so I am not sure) and not have my voice crack. The trouble with this is that when I sing, it sounds completely different from how I speak and therefore, I couldn't record it and give it to someone and say with credulity that I sang it myself. Can someone please offer an explanation for this?

Most people sound fairly different in speaking voices to singing voices. It uses a different part of your vocal chords and different breathing techniques. My sister and I are both singers and while I have a fairly deep speaking voice, I have a very high soprano range (I also have a good lower register but am noted for my high work). My sis on the other hand has a slightly higher talking voice than I do and is in an all womens vocal group, she sings the baritone (lowest male vocal part) lines. I think it would be very strange if someone who was singing properly actually sounded like their normal talking voice.

Well is sounds really odd just like me but that mean u really need practice to do low and high not to improve as u can c .. some ppl have a different voice when they sing but the most important is that ur voice neva turn really crack when u compare them to the way u talk normal.. well if i could give u some tip drink a lot of water and dont really u eat something that make ur throat sick !!! ( such as smoking or maybe drink... ) and always try to practice ur low and high note in the same time i mean like u know what i mean ... well and if u neva take a singing lesson u can also participate in school as a chores like me and it'll be a great thing to do if u love sing especially if u r good at it like me and after u get how to do both side ( low and high ) u'll love it like me :)

hope this i'll help
