And,although I don't really listen to rap,I'm sure people listen to it because they like the beat don't really take the lyrics to heart to much.It's not like the rapper is talking about them specifically.It's just a song...

Anyways, the suburbian teenaged girls are surrounded by that kind of entertainment, radio stations, TV, internet.
As they get older, they -hopefully- would start liking underground music, or a whole different genre of music entirely.
So my point: Not all women are like that, take MZCARTER, Bonnie, Jane, Princess. I'm sure they all dislike almost everything that is played on the radio.

If you mean the 50 Cents and Snoop Doggs of the game, then you're right to be confused. It's fun to dance to and it's got nice beats and stuff, but it does degrade women.
But don't say rap. Be specific. Because, Tupac doesn't. Nas rarely does (only in context), and believe it or not, Kanye West watches his mouth (unless he's spazzing or joking around).

i just ignore it. if there were any good female rappers with actual self respect, i'd listen to them. but with female rappers like lil kim, lil mama, shawnna, and kelis, your almost forced to listen to the male pigs of today's industry. Missy elliott need to come out with another album quick!
Why do men listen to rap? Men in rap can sometimes be portrayed as thugs or drug kinpins. that can be negative. I like rap because I go by the old saying. If it don't apply, don't cry. i know I am nothing like the women they talk about so I have no need to be offended.
