Downstrokes?!

Question: I've been playing guitar for 3 years and I use downstrokes all most all the time on single string notes. I use both up and down on chords and use alternate picking only when I have to for speed reasons, is anyone else like this?

Me too. I know I shouldn't, for reasons of speed and economy, but downstrokes sound good and for some reason I can keep time better when I'm trying to play tricky jazz stuff.
