Question about the Beatles?!

Question: Now, don't make me feel stupid, but I'm not a Beatles expert. I like a lot of songs, though. I think asking questions is the first step to becoming educated about something (i only give this warning because I know there's some snobs out there who put people down)
I'm pretty sure that John and Paul both sang, but on which albums/songs/eras did each primarily sing in? Can you give me some examples of who sang what, and how to tell? (based on singing style) thanks

I believe John and Paul both sang on the song "a Day in the Life".. That may be a good song to listen to the differences in their voices.John sang the most like the lines "I read the news today , oh boy ! about a lucky man who made the grade.Paul sang the part"woke up,fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head" .

They both did sing. As far as I know, thay switched on and off. John sang If I Fell, and his voice has more of a nasally quality. Paul sang Yesterday. I'm always happy to answer questions on one of my favorite rock groups!

John and Paul did most of the singing, but George sang a lot of the songs he wrote, and Ringo even sang a few.

Have a look at this list :~

they primarily sang on every album... it was pretty much who wrote the song sang it.... so if a song says lennon/mccartney paul could have written the whole thing himself...or most of it... so he sings..... ringo sang on like 6 songs as the lead singer.... george also. like.... I am the walrus, let it be, were written and sang by lennon..... michelle, we can work it out, were sung by paul.... lennon tended to be political in his songs, paul tended to be lovey and silly with his... they needed each other to balance them.

yes, they both sang. I think as time went on, their individuality showed more and more. Stylistically, many of the songs that sounded like they were from earlier eras with kind of silly lyrics that told stories were Paul's (e.g., When I'm Sixty-Four, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh Bla Di). While, John tended to be more emotional and universal, both pessimistic and optimistic (All You Need is Love, Glass Onion, Come Together). Notice that they rarely sang each other's songs. Good question, don't ever feel stupid.

They both sang on the albums...George sang occasionally to and even Ringo got to sing a few!

Heres a pretty comprehensive list for you from wiki:

They switched on and off in a lot of their albums, and sometimes im not even sure, but Paul McCartney usually has a lighter tone to his voice
