If you told the first bass player that he is in the band, you have the obligation to honour your word. If he doesn't have a problem getting together for practice, then there should be no issue. You never know, things may not work out so keep the other bass player in mind. Realistically you should be auditioning them to see who fits better and matches your playing style. You're young though, you'll figure that out in time.

Good luck and ROCK ON!!!

ask yourself this,..how far to you want to take this project/band?..once you figure that out then it will be easier to choose.....because then you gonna want the one who is more deicated to music and the band.....being in a band is a job...its an investment...its a way of life.......if all you want is a little garage band, than either bassist will do.....if you want to take it somewhere, then choose the one that has more heart.....the one who plays in the church you know is steadily practicing and already used to playing live......in my book, thats a extra point for sure.....anyway,good luck, and rock on.

Who is more dependable and can play along with the drummer cause the bass is part of the percussion.Which one fits your style of music?Give them both a try out and see who fits better, they shouldn't mind the competition.

I would have two bassists or maybe have them each play on different days.
