Mingus Porkpie Hat?!

Question: There was a brilliant version of Goodbye Porkpie Hat done with Mingus himself and three guitar players jamming over the theme on acoustic guitars. I think one of the guitarists was either Larry Coryell or Lary Carlton. Does anyone know which Mingus album this was on? Thanks for any info.

That tune is on this Larry Coryell cd with his two sons playing guitar tune. Don't see Mingus as a bass credit

The reason that Mingus is not credited on the above mentioned album is that he had died two decades earlier.

I do believe, however, that this is the song that you are searching for, and that you are mistaken about Mingus playing on the song.
I am familiar with Mingus's music. To my knowledge there are not any three guitar recordings of his, and I highly doubt that he would record his songs in that way.

PS-If you like Goodbye Porkpie Hat, you might want to try Rahsaan Roland Kirk's take on it. Its on his album called, Return of the 5,000 Pound Man.
