I totally disagree with you! Rihanna is not only a popular celebrity, she actually can sing! Umbrella is one of her best. But "Dont Stop the Music" is much better i have to admit. I bought some of her songs, and i enjoyed them lotz. So if you are planning to ever buy a song by her, all her sngs have a great message and r very catchy.
It was ok (catchy) when it was released but it became overrated and overplayed soon after.
I think the "ella" bit that gets repeated to rhyme with umbrella is really annojing and stupid. e e e ella ella ella = stupid. Although the rest of the lyrics are ok.

Admittedly, I had the same reaction to the song, but over time it simply grew on me. I think that the song has very much become iconic or synonymous with the name Rihanna. The song is fairly well constructed, aside from the most random and irrelevant intro by Jay-Z.
But if you insist that her voice is simply not suited for this song, then you should try going on YouTube and looking up some covers of her song, they're pretty good. John West and Marie Digby both sing amazing covers of the song (each with their own sense of flair).
loved it when it came out but then it got played too much
its a good song except for the ella ey ey part because
1. it is sorta annoying
2. made it even annoying when friends or enemies would sing it over and over >_<
