Answers: Ignorant mainstream hip hop fans that don't know any artist beyond what they hear on the radio

-or-

Stubborn underground hip hop fans that refuse to accept that any artist that gets radio play is good

in my opinion, the stubborn underground. cuz the ignorant mainstream can grow out of it in a way and may be willing to accept new things. the stubborn underground wud just keep living in the 90s even if it is year 4258. jus sayin, in my opinion and from what i've been living around and seeing.

Stubborn Underground fans because there is nothing wrong with only knowing mainstream artists.

lets see- the first one sounds like one of my freinds he is stupid(i mean he had never heard of the lox!) but i bear it. the second one sounds like someone i know and i cant stand them. so i'll have to say the second one is worse. i think i fit somewhere in the middle i like underground but the radio has good stuff sometimes im more into 90s stuff i guess

good question

i gotta go with the latter...seems like they should know better...in addition to the fact they're usually pretentious bitc*** who deserved to be slapped in the face with a jay-z lp

the second one

I don't run into any ignorant mainstream hip-hop fans that don't know any artist beyond what they hear on the radio.

But, I do know stubborn underground hiphop fans that refuse to accept that any artist that gets radio play is any good... So I guess i'd have to go with them. And it isn't exactly worse, it's annoying more than anything because most times they won't shut up about what i'm listening to.

I guess they're both equally annoying if they make whatever they listen to seem as if it's better than what the next person is listening to. But if they like what they like and they're minding their own business... Then, there's really no harm done.

stubborn underground fans, cuz' they sincerely feel that they're on top of the world when they've discovered artists like Imortal Tech, and then they try to promote their music, not aware of how annoying it is.

Qwerty: lol...you know, that same question raced through my mind, and I even looked for it, but I couldn't find it. narrowminded and stubborn are two very different things...I took stubborn in this question to mean the person, not the music nor their tastes, and in your question, it was about the person's tastes. Who's worse is in a sense, a question regarding who I would personally rather be around, whereas who's more narrowminded is a question regarding someone's (for lack of a better word) tastes.

ignorant mainstream fans because they can't accept that theres more good music than the 5 songs they play continuosly on the radio

Depends on the individual and how open minded they are. You normally find mainstream fans listen to the music they do because of the 'cool factor' and will claim anything underground is backepackerish, but needless to say there's some that will give some underground artists play. On the same level, you'll find underground hip hop fans refuse to listen to the mainstream because its mainstream, but again some will acknowledge that the mainstream is not all bad, especially when certain artists who are considered 'intelligent,' (which always seems to be the triumvirate Common, Talib and Mos Def) get radioplay. So yeah depends on the individual.

The first one but only if they never bother to go and seek anything beyond the charts because everybody starts with commercial it's how far they delve into the history and diversity of Hip Hop that makes them a true fan.

The second one, since musically they live in a box which has never been opened. Plus the best artists are on radio and TV. There are very few cases where a good rapper will stay underground because nobody will sign him even if he has telent e.g. MF Doom (who I believe is the best underground rapper since I just started listening to him properly). But then again, the ones who only know about commercial rap are also ignorant, since most of the stuff you hear from those artists is junk.

Well the mainstreem fans are stupider and much more common but the underground fans are 10 times more annoying haha ya know what i mean. I'm kind of in the middle of everything and I like it that way.

I guess i'd say the mainstreem fans are worse.

Ignorant mainstream hip hop fans that don't know any artist beyond what they hear on the radio. I can deal with the stubborn underground hiphop fans who doesnt accept any radio artists as good because if you listen carefully, the list is Dwindling. I hate hearing Lil Wayne/TI/Even Lupe/ Kanye is the best rapper alive when there are underground cats who songs **** over theirs.

Also, just a little sidenote that has little to do with this question. Radio is smart. You know how people have been saying "Support Real HipHop, not this mainstream BS". Tell me why, on two stations I listened to in VA, they had people saying, " I listen to (Radio Station) because they support Real hiphop". Then, they played "Get Silly" by V.I.C and Soulja Boy.
