Have you ever changed your thoughts about a song completely (see details) after.!

Question: after you came to know the true meanings of the lyrics?

I mean people who've been here before the internet, and then you go to a songmeanings site, and suddenly come to know that that song is nothing what you thought to be! What's your reaction? has this happened to you before?
Other folks can answer too, no problem. That was just an example.

Yeah.

Lyrics have a place on my part. I mean, lyrics tell a lot about the band...and if you have something for the band you idolize, you care about how they are when it comes to beliefs, ideas they hold, the kind of people they are. Well, me, anyway.

Lyrics are pretty much the thoughts and feelings of the one who wrote it, just turned into song, rather than poetry.

So I could totally dig the beat, the way the singer sings and everything, but if the lyrics strike an emotional chord the wrong way for me, I'm through with the song...I mean, why bother listening to someone singing words that hurt? That's self sabotage right there.

My example would be Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" song. Meh...I won't even bother to go into detail of why. I'm sure you can figure it out.

no, it never happened to me, i always try to get from the lyrics something that has a meaning to me so i don't really care if the writer did it thinking of another thing i will stay with my thought about the lyrics which are always good. besides that's whats great about art in general, each person can decide what to understand about any piece of art

all the time especially with rock , usually i like a song just because the tones and he lyrics sound great then when i really understand the lyrics i like it even more. understanding lyric meanings have never made me like a song less

No, not really. I would be listening to the song for the first ever time, and i pick up the inner-meaning quickly. People only see the top layer, never look down into it. But i dont go on sites to look up the words, i pick the words up after one listen.

See, that's why you don't look up the true meanings.
Songs are supposed to have a different meaning to each person, and to know what the band intended to mean just ruins the whole illusion.
I love music and I love the different meanings people can get from the same song.
I guess you could call me a music guru of some sort! =]]

This doesn't really happen to me largely because I focus on the guitar parts more than the lyrics.

yeah deffenatly, after i listend to the lyrics from
These colours dont run- iron maiden (they are about soldiors going to war,
they made me think differently towards the song

no. i actually try not to look up other people's opinions on songs that i listen to. i like to figure it out myself.

When I first listened to one of my favorite songs, I thought it was a love song about someone, but apparently its about war.

Its fun to figure out song meaning by myself and it doesnt really ruin a song for me when i learn its about somthing different.

NO, God Bless youTC/;)
