Where an aspiring singer can send in a demo tape and be given an oppurtunity to !

Question: I live in Montreal and please be specific. I've been writing and recording since I was 9 years old and that's nearly 7 years ago. Thank You...Anyone love good music?

Sending an unsolicited demo to a label usually doesn't yield any results, since in most cases (and especially with the current state of the recording industry) if they aren't expecting it or asking for it it will only end up in a pile or the trash. The best thing you could do is to play shows or go to shows and meet people. If you can gather connections within the industry people will be MUCH more likely to give your songs a listen since they'll have a face to put with the music.

Here is a list of Montreal based music labels, but like I said, I wouldn't waste your time just sending out demo's. Go to shows, talk to other musicians, venue managers, etc. Getting a job at a venue (if that's an option to you) would allow you to talk to tour managers and touring bands, too.

Most importantly just be persistent. A lot of times you'll feel like you're bugging people but if you've got the songs to back you it will eventually pay off. Good luck!
