o.k. man heres the deal, and this is why i chose the ESP . i went to the ted brown music and talked witht the dude about the epi. and what he showed me is that when you take the epi... hit a note and hold the guitar and shake it as you would when you move on stage... the note will waiver it's tune.... now if you do the same test on the ESP viper 400 it will not do that... that seems to be because of the quality of the wood and the construction of the neck through body. now. as for weight , like i told you before, all vipers do not weigh the same ...now as for the playability.. hmmm... i think the viper 400 that i have is possibly the best a have had. and i have changed from gibson... a 1000$ esp guitar whether it is a viper or one of the others, like the les paul style... they just feel very smooth... and i would buy them again. as for the emg pickups... i can get a tone that will bite like metallica or a softer smooth bite like the SRV tone... i don't plan to change my guitar choice any time soon. even though i have looked at lots and lot of others. i just plan on getting more. oh, and having less knobs only means it is easier to operate on stage....

the esp ltd. knockoff probably comes from a factory demanding slightly higher quality control than gibson's epiphone line, so you'd be better off getting that one, if the price is very comparable

I'll go for Epiphone just because it has 4 knobs.
