Get your favorite song and sing it because you know you can sing it and you can also have fun while singig . Plus you already know the song so you don't have to rehearse the song.

I am also an alto and i have a REALLY hard time finding songs to perform!
Sing something that will show what you can do! If you have the talent, show it. Dont pick a song that repeats its self over and over again because those can get boring. Sing something that will make you work to make it perfect.
Try a song that everyone knows, so that you can make it your own. Maybe to a song that is a classic. A good alto song would be You're So Vain. I dont know who it is by, but i love it. Another song would maybe be a Beatles song. They are fun and everyone can sing along with you. They are also great for any age.
But if you find a song that you like that is not in your range, get it fixed to be a key or two lower or higher. That way you will be comfortable when you sing a song that you love.
