What do you love about Pink Floyd?!

Question: I notice them when i saw the money

Answers: I notice them when i saw the money

Just adding to Sarah's perfect definition...
They transport me to an inner and outer universe... I understand more clearly who I am and what the miracle of existence is about, regardless of the ups and downs we encounter in modern society.
They are dense and complex, deep and emotional and relate to everything they project into all that perfection of musical creativity.
They were, are and will always be the best ( for me).

everything.

smooth tranquil melody ...... I have become comfortably numb.

everything.

I like them when I'm high.
But for some reason not when I'm sober.
But I still think they are a great band.

That rainbow and the glass triangle is pretty cool

Acid Rock. gotta be on acid, mushrooms, pcp when you listen to them...................you get it...............they were..............the seventies man.

They put on a fantastic show with laser lights .

How their music reaches deep inside the mind, and tells us about it.

Lets see.... what do I love about Pink Floyd?

- Roger Waters is probably one of the greatest lyricist ever.
- David Gilmour can make a guitar cry, no one can play his solos the way he can.
- David Gilmour's voice is like ice cream for the ears.
- Rick Wright is one one the most melodious organist/keyboardist.
- Roger Waters and Nick Mason play together so well.
- Words can't describe Syd Barrett
- ECHOES is the difinitive masterpiece (for me)
- Several Species of Small Furry Animals Grooving Together in a cave With A Pict? Randomness is awesome!
- They have so many phases so you get diversity, but they always managed to hang on to the Floyd sound.
- Their worst songs are still amazing.
- The Ballloon Pig Darn it!!!!

Yea... I'll stop now....

Unlike today's bands they wright and play every thing them selves.

I think my favorite all-time song is the instrumental from the album "Meddle". There's just something about listening to it at full volume and it just sucks you right in to the highs, lows, crescendoes, and everything!
Mostly I like them because they have had such a varied assortment of music during their time together. They're also into intellectual music that really makes you think.
They never were into the 24/7 touring scene which makes them all the more unique, because either you had to buy their albums or you had to catch them on one of their very few tours. They weren't really into it for the money, they were in it for the soul of the music.

The fact that 1973's "Darkside of the Moon" is the 6th best-selling album of ALL time and is STILL a best-seller (in the top 200 each year). Apparently it still sells about 8000 copies a week on a worldwide basis, with over 34 million copies sold to date.

And yea, I was in HIGH SCHOOL when it came out. WAY COOL, eh?

Their imagination. David Gilmour and Roger Waters made some awesome music. Sid Barrett may have been the madness behind the method, but their best music was actually made after he left the band. Wish You Were Here is one of the best albums ever made. When I was in high school there was a local theater that played The Wall at midnight every Friday, we used to get baked and go watch almost every week.
SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND!!!!

they are an amazing band
but i havent ever got into them

I love everything they made, but my favorite album is their first one "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" with their original lead singer/guitarist Syd Barett, without him I doubt that they would have been as tripped out as they were

The prism!
The music, lyrics, and creativity.
The freedom they allowed Clare Torry for 'that' vocal...
And Sarah's amazing description of David's voice!

My father saw them on the DSotM tour.
We were in the middle of the 'three-day-week' here in Britain at that time, which meant that electricity was cut from one part of the country to provide for another part. From the darkness of the stage, these little round beams of light appeared. Slowly, they grew bigger. The band were wearing miners helmets, and announced "Don't worry, we have our own generators for the show!". My father was sitting up in the circle, and they had rigged up speakers in such a way that when they started to play "Money", it sounded as if he was 'inside' the cash register!

Because Gilmour is a god:D

What i like about them?
The SUPER ORIGINAL music with very very awesome echoes, Perfect meaningful lyrics, Class A live performances
and of course, David gilmours guitar solos

the song we dont need no education

another brick in the wall part 2, thats a fun song

Not much...I never really got into them...they make me sleepy
