Question: Please settle a dispute between my husband and I. We both are huge Cake fans and he thinks that the song "Going the Distance" is about masturbation. I think it has to do with corporate america and the rat-race. What do you think the lyrics mean?

I personally LOVE this song and I've never thought about the meaning behind it until you asked. I looked up the lyrics and after actually reading them.......I agree with you that it is about work-a-holics. The man in the song is working so much that he doesn't have time for his spouse anymore, or anything else for that matter, and it really doesn't matter, because he's not really getting the rewards anyway, because there is always someone higher up and better. That's my take on it, anyway. Sorry to your husband! (he has his mind in the gutter) LOL
