Question: Garth Brooks Song The Dance. I love this song. It reminds me of my Mother. But What is the meaning behind it? I mean when he wrote this song was he talking about someone? Meaning : I'm glad i didn't know the way it all would end. I'm glad i didnt know the way it all would go. What did he mean? And who was he refferring it to?

if i remember right, garth didnt write this one...tony arata did...i used to keep up with all that stuff back then.

i believe its somewhat about loss and somewhat about making sure you live your life and dont miss out on anything.

this was my brother's favorite song---he was a garth fan in general too...kinda looked like him, definitely dressed like him...hat and all.
....it was played at my brothers funeral in 1998, it was extrememly hard for me to even listen to that song for the next 5-7 years. it also says on my brothers marker "he was beloved in life, his greatest joy was in making others happy. his famiy and his friends were his world, to those who love him his memory will never grow old. he loved people, laughter and "the dance"
my brother was 26. ...but anyway, just wanted to share that story

The song was written by Tony Arata, and it started out as a song about a relationship ending. But in the video, it evolved into being about the loss of life, and love, and would you take certain chances in life if you knew how things would end, like with JFK, Martin Luther King, etc.

hmm wos dat?neva heard it b4
