all depends on what you're going for and what kind of music you'll be recording. do you want to open up your own studio or just get the equipment to record?
I have my own Acoustic/Solo project that I'm doing and Im getting my own recording equipment to record my full length album:

That right there is really all you need to record a multi track acoustic album and you can also add drums too.
BUT, if you're looking to record a full band you'll need something way more advanced then that and will probably run you a good 1-2k.
I don't know much about opening a studio or anything buy my friend has his wons and he had to sound proof the entire room and purchase a good 8k+ worth of equipment.
So it all varies on what you want to do
