I heard some jazz today......?!

Question: and really enjoyed it!
I know nothing about jazz though and would like to get to know it better and suggestions on artists/songs to listen to.

Norah Jones ("Don't know why") is my personal favourite. For something more classic, perhaps Frank Sinatra ("Fly me to the moon", though there are other renditions to it by different singers). For more recent singers, I like Renee Olstead ("A love that will last").

Another song I enjoy is "Fallen" (Lauren Wood)

Hope you'll enjoy them too! :)

Ray Brown Trio with Gene Harris and Jeff Hamilton. My favorite CD by them right now is "Summer Wind--Live at the Loa." Highly recommended.

Start with Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" and John Coltrane "A Love Supreme," two albums that have stood the test of time. Then branch out a little, maybe Charlie Parker, Billy Cobham, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Dave Brubeck, Clifford Brown, Thelonius Monk and Charlie Haydn. I'd just go to itunes and browse the jazz music store for these artists and see what you like, then you can see what other people recommend too.

Just go to the public library and take out different jazz CD's...

Jazz is an extremely broad form of music that doesn't mean one thing.... There are SOOO many different styles of jazz,, from so many different eras.....

taking out stuff from the library gives you a chance to find stuff you like,,, and other stuff you don't really care for.
