Do you think music form the 1980's and 1990's was alot better than the m!

Question: And say why?

Answers: And say why?

I do, because back then, you could feel the heart and soul that they put into it. When I put in a CD from the 80's, I get pumped, and just feel good while listening to it. Today, everything is so generic and already done 3 times before, and I just get bored.

definitley. and the 70s were even better still.
maybe because im getting older Lol

1980's music is miles better everybody knows a few songs from then however old or young you are there is the cheesy kylie songs to madonna all the fantastic rock ballads i wish i could remember the 80's

Without question...some of the 70s as well...as long as it wasn't that hippie folky crap

Entirely agree with top comment. 70s were the greatest. Although, Pixies and Gang of Four make me want to cry with happiness. Im 16 tho.

Yes. Most of what's out right now just feels like its taken from another time and spruced up a bit. Still singing about the same ol S#!t.

Yes, because in the 80's you could understand the lyrics.

Without question, - especially the 80's =]

The music now is virtually all pre-manufactured (Pop Idol, X Factor etc) or cover versions of 70's 80's and 90's classics.

abso-flippin-lutely.... all the music back then was amazing. i mean, come on, Queen? Led Zepplin? AC/DC? The Who??? i could go on forever!!! the music was amazing! and now its just crap, has no meaning, only meant for dancing. like, seriously, My Humps? yeah, cool beat, but come on....
so yes, i think those times were way better

The mainstream music was better. Mainstream is **** now.

YES YES everything songs sounds the same. at least back than there were different sounds and it wasn't always about SEX and if was its not like now

1980s had bettr sound because they actually write
about stuff and dont have others write it
they actually put feeling into it and not just make it so compicated
its kind of like they sing about one thing as thr subject and its a big hit

like welcome to the jungle
tellin how life was back then

Are you talking about mainstream? I'd say yes. I am forced to listen to the radio. I can't tell the bands apart anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old but it seems to me that very few bands are unique anymore. Everyone sounds like they are copying someone else.

the 80's definetly, Artist were unique then, they didn't all sound the same. 80's songs are memoriable as the movies were to. Now they are mostly remakes or remixes of the 80's. No one was scared to stand out and be different than the guy next to them. Oh yeah, it's was fun music not all......well you know!

It's an age thing. When you think the latest music is not so good - - - - you're getting OLD!!!

BTW - I like 60s & 70s!!!

well idk i guess its what you grow up listening to i grew up listeng to 00's music and prefer that over 70s and 80s its all about your type of music that you like

I am 14, but I still think 80's music is the best. I hardly like modern music, apart from Kaiser Chiefs.

Yes and No. There are a lot of great bands out there today that most people don't know about that are a lot better than bands from the 90s and 80s and earlier. But there's also a lot of crappy, ripoff bands trying to sound like bands from the 80s and 90s as well.

When it comes to mainstream music, I think the 90s were better than the 80s and the 00s. There was a lot cheesy gimmicky crap (new wave and hair metal...ugh...) floating in the mainstream in the 80s, but at the same time there were great punk rock and indie rock scenes all over the country, and were building the blocks of what would become known as "alternative."

The 90s brought back good rock music with meaningful lyrics that weren't just about partying and girls. Of course that lasted up until 97, when rap-metal and numetal came along and drained all the emotion out of the mainstream.

Actually pop music was good until about 1987. Then rap's influence took over the airwaves and pop just rolled over and died due to lack of support from the record companies.

There is good pop music being made now, it's just not popular because the record companies think it won't sell millions of records. Look for Roisin Murphy, Gary Jules, Niko, Regina Spektor... anyone not on a major label. cdbaby.com is a good place to start.

I think that people are used to the sounds that they grew up with. Put it to you this way, parents raising teenagers in the 80's thought there music was the best and that this new music was bad. My father never understood why I liked heavy metal. The same could be said for todays generation. The music today I think is bad. So I'm basically turning into my father. Peoples taste in music doesn't change just the music itself changes.

I remember the 80s, that was some fun music. New and different, innovative, sometimes awful to listen to now, but it was a creative time for artists.

I never liked the electric drums. They're about as authentically drum-like as margarine is authentically buttery. Ptui. Also, many bands used synthesizers, which is fine, but they used them <a lot> in lieu of real instruments. (Limit one per customer, lol.) Combine electric drums with all those synthesizers, and you get a "plastic music" effect, you know?

Now the 70s were awesome! That was a happy time, I was a child with no worries, roller skating became popular, and people got up to get down, boogie oogie oogie!

Ok heres the thing right now rock isn't rock point blank. Rock is a blank slate right now there is ABSOLUTELY NO TALENT WHAT SO EVER. Its truly sad but i do believe that rock will become true and full of talent again some day. The late 60's,70's, 80's and the 90's all kicked ***. Rock is in a tough place right now.

At any given time 90-95% is rubbish . we tend to be selective about what we remember which is why some periods seem better than others. Also the period when your 14-18 is supposedly the most influential on you musically.

50s Chuck Berry
60s Rolling Stones
70s Led Zeppelin
80s U2
90s Stone Roses
00s Kaiser Chiefs

Thats just one band from each decade and I could expand on them quite easily
