Is Hip-Hop truly in a state of death?!

Question: Is it truly dying? There are artists such as Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris that ARE killing it, but the legends and vets are still here making good music. Is it dead YET?

It's been dead for years...

I'm sick of these stupid! demaning! moronic! lyrics that are in most hip hop songs.
It's sad that American's still what to listen to this crap!!!

However I don't want hip hop to die; I simply want it to reinvent itself.

Because the music is good; it's the lyrics that are garbage!

hip hop will not be dead as long as there are intelligent fans supporting genuine music

why do people keep asking this? hip hop/rap has been dead since 1997. The way it's going, we'll never get out of this "Hip Hop Depression." artists these days just put out good singles, but not quality albums. they'll have a hot single, then when you go to buy the album, it's sh*t. i don't know what's happened to the quality of music, but it's really upsetting.

99% of all the crap that is out now SUCKS! Its definatley dying. Someone needs to step up their game and come with some new stuff. I basically don't listen to anything after '98...so sad...

As long as their are artist that make music that you like, it will never die.

Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris (as much as I may dislike them) aren't killing hip hop, their keeping it alive by making music and keeping people's interest in the genre. Whether people want to call it hip pop or whatever, it still has ties to hip hop music.

I hate you for making me defend Soulja Boy.

yo i co sign mechanical royalty........ and add: its a matter of opinion, im a true hip hop head and miss old school hip hop when the style was more true to the foundation hip hop was built on but its not dead...... its mostly garbage now comparitive to 1997 and b4 but not dead..... im just waiting EVERY THING comes full circle........

Nope.
It lives in the south.
U just gotta look for it.
Dont listen to all that ordinary stuff like crank that soulja boi.
Listen mixtapes and underground and thats where u find the real good stuff.
And by the way, Hurricane chris is not that bad. If u noticed lately, rappers release singles that are catchy and that people will remember. It's not a display of they're talents.

If u go to youtube.com look up hurricane chris on rap city. He really good a freestylin.

Now soulja boi on the otha hand....lmao he is jus really bad. I cant even defend him.

no, there will always be another hype artist like lil wayne for instance, if you haven't heard him live, hes really good

people don't understand a big part of hip hop is lyrics and the retarded bunch can't even keep up with the flow of pictures it paints, like you can't read
