I'm looking for the name and artist of an instrumental that I heard on a cla!
Question: So I've heard this song a few times on classic rock stations. It features acoustic guitar a lot of the time, and it's a pretty fast-paced song. Also there is one part in it that sounds very similar to the solo in Stairway to Heaven. I've never been able to catch the name or artist, so if anyone has any ideas as to what this song might be, I would greatly appreciate it.

Possibly "Fire On High" by Electric Light Orchestra? See the video below. The part you'll recognize won't be until about 1:30 into the video. Most classic rock stations only play that part.

Does it have any orchestral background music? It could be Classical Gas by Mason Williams, it has some acoustic guitar, but I've never compared that to Stairway to Heaven.
Any other hints?

I'm just guessing Crazy on You by Heart
Wild guess...it might be the intro to John Cougar's "I need a lover who might drive me crazy." It's got a 3 or 4 minute instrumental intro that has great acoustic guitar, and nice solos. Maybe that's it.
BTW, he was just inducted into the R&R hall of fame yesterday.

There are lyrics, but the guitar pieces are beautiful
and varied, and several spots touch on a major
Stairway-resemblance, both acoustic and the
electric bits.
The close-out (BEGINNING AT 3:35) is just gorgeous, listening to it on Youtube as I type and getting chills
because of its ethereal beauty.
