Why do people act differently to emos?!
Question: Lately i notices everyone is either a chav or an emo. I am with rockers, not emos. But i see when a emo is around people treat them so differently compared to anyone else. They treat them as if they are so emotional depressed (is the reason for the name 'emo') but emos are happy.. Whats with that??

well i'm a hard rock guy and i would never make fun of another fan of rock.....even though i've never really gottten into emo.......but emo people have the reputation of being depressed and only writing songs about how their girlfriend broke up with them, how they want to cut their wrists, etc.......so that's why people treat them differently even though it is undeserved

I think you need to stop referring to your friends as "rockers" and "emos". That is why people treat you different. Because you try and believe you are. Let me guess your in high school? I was just like that but what the "rockers" and the "emos" didn't realize is that you are not different you look the same as other "rockers" and try to look like that. And that in the end we are all "posers"
I use to belong to the 'emo' group although I never even noticed until everywhere I went people kept going 'emo' at me.

oh emo people... EMOtional peeps they seem to dwell on whatever goes wrong in their life. Usually like music that focus on broken relationships (family/love) and seem to be very into their own feelings which may cause other people to joke about them. Who's emo depends on who's calling them that.
I really don't understand that myself. Someone asked a question similar to this once, and I coundn't believe how mean the answers were. I'm in my late 30's and I went through a phase similar to emo. I wore all black, I died my hair black, but that didn't mean I was depressed or anything. I think people should not discriminate as to how one dresses or looks. I am against discrimination of any kind .In answer to your question, I think it's stupidity that makes others treat them differently.
I think the whole calling yourself emo, or chav or whatever is just dumb period! Your either a kid, teenager or an adult! Whatever happend to just being cool or uncool?
Some people like to judge people based on clothes, or stereo types, making a generalization based on those two factors, but all the same, a lot of the fault rests on the 'emos', who, just by stereo type mind you, 'think that the world is out to get them', or that 'no-one understands', and frankly the ones who do are annoying, and cast a shadow on the 'emos' who don't.

If someone calls themself and 'emo' than they are happily conforming to that stereotype. If you label yourself you immediately lose the right to complain when people treat you as part of that stereotype.
People don't know how to take others differences...i don't know the whole they are emotional depressed but are happy though.

I think people should stop using labels like "emo" because it just gives people excuses to hate someone for their looks or what they like. It's just people doing what they want in the way they want.
lots of people dont know other people so they suspect that wat u wear is wat u r in a meaner way...... they say they dont have a life so they just make it worse by being mean to them....
Most people who dress in black are automatically labeled emo. People 1) Can't tell the difference, or 2) Are to ignorant to find out.
Because Emos pretend to be depressed to crave attention, they are not truly depressed because they are in it for the trend because ignorant people think being depressed must be fun,sexy,and cute. Real depression is horrible, real depressed people do not wear their depression around and turn it into a fashion. Real depression cuts off all motivation, and all hope in a person's life and clouds their views.
