George Jones, Me an ol' George had something in common. We both loved our booze.
Tough question, especially depending on what is considered 'classic.' I'm going to say that it's a toss-up between George Jones, Conway Twitty, and Waylon Jennings.
...I'm not throwing in Johnny Cash. He transcends the category.
Allow the 80's into the category and I will throw in Ricky Van Shelton and Dwight Yoakam.
I gotta go with Hank Sr., Boy I'm showing my age I guess, there are people on here who think Garth Brooks qualifies as classic! I remember when he first started.
There are so many great ones. Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Pride, Merle Hagard and Barbara Mandrell. I mean she was the first woman to win Entertainer of the Year! I like them all!?
Hank Sr-I can connect to his songs(the music & lyrics). You can feel his emotions in his music. And his voice.....how can you not love him?

Jim Reeves. Why? His voice. He could melt frozen butter with that incredible baritone of his. He was also a very good songwriter, but it all started and ended with that voice.
Conway Twitty and Marty Robbins are my 2 favorites. Can't choose, love them both, their songs and their voices!
