personally i think that fenders are the greatist and play really well how ever in response to the tune one, from previous experience, its not about the guitar... if you keep it in tune then it will stay in tune... it might be a unconvenient but the strings will get set and will just stay where they are... ofcourse when you become more advance, you will ben changing the key for suit different songs for example... joker and the theif by wolfmother is done in D flat tuning... so yeahi won't worry about the tune side...

anything at or over 300 dollars is a great guitar. they stay in tune.
epiphone is great.

Usually what will get your guitar out of tune all other things being equal will be using the whammy bar. So if it is a real concern for you I would stick to stop tails.

The one on Guitar Hero! lol

Seriously though? Try a Les Paul

The ability for a guitar to stay in tune is not so much a product of the instrument itself but more so the quality of strings and the manor that the instrument is stored when not being used.
Assuming you are talking about an electric guitar, look for a product that has the neck built through the body. these are called neck through. You will pay some more for a neck through but it will be a much more solid instrument then a bolt on neck.
Consider DR strings as opposed to GHS. Wipe your strings down post playing. this is important in that the oils and such from your fingers will destroy the strings.
Lastly, Keep your guitar in the case or in a stand when not being played. Laying a guitar against a wall furniture or your bed is not a good idea in that stress is applied to the neck.
FYI Epiphone is the Japan machine made Gibson. Epiphones will be more uniform then Gibsons because the machines that manufacture them do not vary as much as humans do.

I agree with the other guy, your type of strings and how you handle your guitar will effect how well it stays in tune. But no matter what guitar you buy you will still have to tune it. Also using a whammy bar can bring your guitar out of tune especially if it isn't put on properly. And just because a guitar costs 300 dollars won't mean that it will be an excellent guitar.

Gibson Les Paul. You never regret buying quality...
