Dummy mainstream hip hop question #4 - What is the difference between the "!

Question: I occassionally see people talk about the new Lil Wayne and the old Lil Wayne. As far as I can tell he didn't die and then someone replaced him, like Captain America (big up to myself for placing a nerdy super hero reference in RHH). I don't think I've heard anything from Lil Wayne since Hot Boys - "I Need a Hot Girl" or whichever Juvenile song it was where he kept saying "drop it like its hot" (I think that was him, could be wrong). As far as I can tell from people's opinions, he's currently not very good. He wasn't good back when I heard him, so how is there a difference between "new" and "old"?

He switched up his style...

i think the best and most meaningful song he ever wrote is something you forgot.... i dont know if thats the new him or old him but my fave part of the song isssssss

and I know you probably wish you never met me, and I just wish you never forget me
and let me say, please don't worry 'bout the women I have been with
No engagement can amount to your friendship

***edit**

why yall hatin on ma opinions

A LOT has changed. First off Wayne's head is about to explode because he thinks he his the biggest thing to hit the hip hop nation, which is FALSE. Of course he's made hot **** but he's falling off slowly but surely. Within the last year or 2 his style/flow/lyrics are starting to fall off. All his new sh*t is going down hill, you can barely understand what the hell he's saying half the time and his lyrics are starting to become "preschool lyrics" (which means a preschooler can think of those rhymes./ When a rapper starts falling off is when you can predict what his next bar is after his spits the first one. For example, rat, cat, bat, sat. Come on Weezy, you were the MOVEMENT, now your stuck in your nice big ol' comfy leather chair in the studio sippin on WAAAYYY too much promethazine (search the interview where his MOMMA even tells him to chill with that sh*t & Wayne ADMITS that he cannot stop sippin that lean.) He'll be the next DJ Screw/Pimp C.

RIP SCREW AND C

I think what they're what alot of people are meaning by this is his style changed. Even though the first song you heard him on was back that azz up wayne had been rapping with cash money way before that song came out since prolly around 96-97. If you listen to his style before The Carter 1 it sounds alot different. Not saying it's better just different. I heard it's because he used to write out his bars, and he just flows em. I used to be a big cash money fan so that's why I know this,. (key words "used to").

First off Lil wayne only sounds different because

1. he spits from the top of the head, instead of on paper (since the carter 2).
2 he is trying different things and stretching is horizons by making himself different than other rappers, by using new type of beats and different styles of flow..
3 wayne has just grown up and is gettin his grown man on.
"get that money" n "wishin a motha!@!@ would" type mode..
Plus.... he got base in his voice now compared to before..

he really is a good rapper and got dumb flows, thats why everyone to rappers and r&b got him on there tracks.

Hot girls was on bg's album chopper city in the ghetto

Keep it real, ur not gangsta. but as long as u r not a sucka and u be yourself ur all good.

I remember when Lil Wayne wouldn't curse back then because he didn't want to be disrespectful to him mom (said in an interview). Now look at him lol

No difference...they both are garbage to me.....hip pop

the new Lil Wayne- Fire
The old lil wayne- Fire
nothing changed..
