Question: The Western is the old 'Twang' type songs. Country is Southern Rock on a horse.

Answers: The Western is the old 'Twang' type songs. Country is Southern Rock on a horse.

well western maybe more like Chris Leduex or Micheal martin murphy...we still have some but not as much...

I think with the influx of other nationals in the genre (Keith Urban, ie) it can't really be called "Western" anymore. I think also the old songs are the true westerns, and the newer artists are trying to melt country and rock to appeal to a newer base of listeners, and there went the "Westerns".

nashville trashed it for the pop country, to appeal to a younger listening group that will blow their parents money on cd's

I think it is still around it is just not as popular as it use to be and all the real good western twang singers have retired.
Love, honey

because unfortunately, people are looseing touch with what is real country/western music. the new stuff today is neither country or western. it is watered down hip hop and its just a matter of time that the rap crap will take over this too.
real western stuff like marty robbins, asleep at thje wheel the sons of the pioneers, all great stuff and you never hear it any more.also you never hear the real country anymore like merle haggard, george jones, conway, now its all rocked up and hopped up and if big and rich and cowboy troy and kid rock have their way, itll all be bullst soon.i wish there was a music station near me that had the guts to stand up and play the real stuff.we had 105.1 in south carolina and dam if they didnt take it off the air and put on spanish music 24/7.
i dont understand it, i guess the good music is dieng just like the good writers and performers are. its jut too bad..

Check out Bar J Wranglers. They perform Western Cowboy songs in Jackson Hole, Wyoming – during the summer months. Folks of all ages come & enjoy the Wranglers sing Westerm Music.. They are doing their part to keep western music alive.

Quite a few years ago Rex Allen Jr sang about this very thing.

CAN YOU HEAR THOSE PIONEERS?.
Written by Rex Allen, Jr. and Judy Maude

When I was just a little boy
I learned to call the cows
From Eddy Arnold singing strong
bout the Cattle Call
And I'll never forget the Pioneer's singing
'See Them Tumbling Down'
Well, I think it's time that we put Western
Back in the Country sound.
Ev'ry time that I hear Rex
Sing about his 'Arizona Sky'
Or Roy and Dale's; Happy Trails
They always bring a sigh!
My throat gets tight then the tears come
See them tumbling down
But, I think it's time that we put Western
Back in the Country sound.
