Yammaha Wind Synth WX5?!

Question: I am interested in purchasing the WX5 for a experimental downbeat/fusion electronic band i am starting with a friend. He currently has a Roland Synth (idk the model) and a drum machine.
I might get the WX5 to add another dimension into the MIDI scheme.
My question is specific to the actual tone generation with the WX5. I understand that the WX5 (and all other EWI's) dont make actual sounds, but rather require another piece of equipment to operate. I am wondering if i can somehow link up to his synth. Or is there perhaps a computer program (like a sequencer of some-sort) that i can *ahem* "obtain"...

any other info or alternatives to the sound generation half of the wind synth would be helpful

thanks
andrew

The answer is as simple as wide.

You certainly can hook up your WX5 to any MIDI-equipped piece. If your friend's Roland has MIDI In or Thru connector - just go ahead and plug your WX5 into it. Troubles are, of course, possible - both pieces may play the same kind of sound, Roland may suddently turn monophonic, etc. But these are just tasks to be done (tweak with assigned channels, try Master-Slave connection orders...) - not the unsolvable puzzles.

More than that - if you buy MIDI-to-USB connection cord you can hook up your device to a computer! Then any MIDI-enabled software - there are TONS! - can work just fine with your WX5.

All in all: don't be afraid to try - in no possible way you can damage anything. To get suitable/realistic sound from those MIDI banks - it's another difficult story... :))
