She is a POP Star and not a rock star. That is a moronic idea. She shouldn't be there at all.
as long as she has been around Im surprised it hasnt happened sooner! I agree she is pop, but we must admit she is iconic, and if we look back to the 80s although it was pop, she was a revolutionary! so Im not surprised and I think she deserves it :)
I love Madonna, but she is pop all the way. Maybe she had a lot of influence over rock and roll (think Poison, Motley Crue, Cinderellas makeup and hair, a litle Madonna influence). But I agree with you, that's ridiculous to honor her there.
Anyone that is in the musics business can be inducted into the Hall. she does not do Rock but you can not ague the point of the records she sold or the icon she was back in the days
The Rock Hall has made all sorts of terrible decisions. Like, why isn't Joy Division in there? Or Siouxsie and the Banshees?

No matter how we feel, she's gonna get in- it's the "Rock 'n' Roll" hall of fame, but it isn't limited to just rock. There are countless other non-rock acts in the Hall.

Elton John
The Jackson Five
Not exactly Rock, per se, but great acts nonetheless.
I know, dumbest move of 2008. It's even in the name, ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame. I don't see the word 'pop' in there at all.
