How can I kick the bassist out of a band I'm in?!

Question: Okay, the problem is this. We're a good band - we've got some good songs, and our keyboardist is really musically talented. The problem is, our bassist is completely talentless. He literally can't tune his own bass. I'm not making this up, we'll be playing, it'll just sound wrong, someone says, "Okay, is the guitar or bass out of tune?" and he'll deny it's him. He'll play a C-scale, whatever, you can HEAR the dischord, and he says there's nothing wrong. He's tone-deaf.

Complicating the issue is the fact that he's the guitarist's brother. She thinks of him as "my baby brother" and I'm pretty sure she'll be pretty pissed off if we kick him out.

SO, what do we do? Some help would be appreciated!

If it is your band.....I would tell her that her brother needs to go...tell her that you want her to stay but if she wants to stay with her brother that you will understand. If it is not your band...Go to your leader and state that either he goes or you go...

I have been in both situations, and those are the choices that I made...
Good Luck

hmmmmmmmm...pretend your mad at him and kick him out

Keep him in as a novelty. there are already countless bands with bassists that play in tune.

You should drive him out to the woods and leave him there. Then put an ad out for a new bass player.

have a critic listen to your band...let him do the job of telling your bassist what the problem is...then everything follows... good luck

Tell the bassist's brother first and have him helping you kick the bassist out the band.
