One of my favourite artists!

He was born in Yorkshire, but moved to Malta for a few years {his father was in the RAF}, before returning to Yorkshire aged 10.

Robert started out in an early 1970's band called Vinegar Joe, alongside female vocalist Elkie Brooks. He released his first solo album "Sneakin' Sally Thru the Alley" in 1974.
He sang in a range of styles, including Rock, Blues, Reggae, Easy Listening, and Jazz. His final studio album, "Drive" in 2003, was an album of traditional Blues covers, and featured his son on drums.

He died in his hotel room in Paris in 2003, from a heart attack. He was only 54.
As someone who led a reasonably quiet life - his only vices were a cigarette, a glass of whisky, and the crossword - his loss seems very unfair...

It really was so sad ~ he's the only famous person who's death I cried about. A few songs you really *must* hear are :~
'Maybe It's You' {remix}
'The Silver Gun'
'Twenty Million Things'
'Johnny and Mary'
'Want You More'
'Sneakin' Sally Thru the Alley'
'Dreams Come True' {instrumental}
